Costa Rica is renowned for its natural wonders and unique charm. All tourist activities listed below provide bilingual guides. For any other local activities, ADE members will be happy to assist as translators. 

La Paz Waterfall Gardens 

Just 15 minutes away, La Paz is one of the most popular destinations in Costa Rica for both tourists and locals. The multi-million dollar resort includes several tropical wildlife exhibits, including butterfly and hummingbird gardens, and a mini-zoo with a panther, monkeys, and a variety of parrots. A buffet lunch is included in the price.

Poas Volcano National Park 

Poas has erupted 39 times in the last two decades. The surrounding national park covers the current crater (seen to the right) and Lake Botos, which fills the old, now inactive, crater.

Colinas del Poas 

Experience one of Costa Rica’s famous zipline adventures. Travel by zipline between 24 platforms on a two hour guided tour. The last zipline is almost 2000ft long.

Rain Forest Hike 

The cabin is located next to 35 acres of rain forest. The surrounding area has three trails, a natural spring, and is home to wildlife including the famous Quetzal bird, monkeys, and Tapers. Three meditation huts located throughout the forest are perfect for reflection, writing, or reading.

Baldi Hot Springs and Arenal Volcano 

The hot springs of Arenal are a world-class experience. As the most active volcano in Costa Rica, Arenal has activity approximately every 45 minutes. Enjoy the beautiful sights of the volcano while relaxing in one of 25 different mineral hot springs at the Baldi resort.

The following activities can be enjoyed right in the town of San Rafael. Most are within walking distance and involve local community members, giving you the chance to directly interact with the community you are serving. 

-Local community members have fresh milk, cheese, and strawberries for sale. Take a trip to the local panadería to purchase bread and pastries. 

-Horseback riding is available for free with advance notification.
